In the General Election campaign last year, along with other Labour Party members, I spent much time talking to people in Hayle West about the issues which matter to them. The cost of living, housing and the environment featured heavily in these conversations. If elected, I want to be a voice for local people to ensure these concerns are acted on.

From my previous experience as a local councillor, too often I have seen politicians more concerned about playing politics rather than getting things done for the people they are supposed to represent. I want to make sure Cornwall Council works with the Government, businesses, and local communities, to get the best deal for Cornwall and Hayle.

I am fortunate to have been able to take early retirement from my career as the head of a national charity which campaigns on legal rights and access to justice. I believe I have the commitment and experience necessary to be an effective champion for the people of Hayle West.
